Cemetery

Weathersfield Township also maintains four Township cemeteries: County Line, Ohltown, Welsh Hill, and Kerr. Kerr Cemetery is the only one that is still accepting burials. The Township has recently acquired an additional 14 acres and a building to be used as a future cemetery offices. The Sexton Don Tenney can be reached at (330) 652-6326 for cemetery information.

 


 Grave Charges (Prices effective as of July 1, 2011)

Residents of Weathersfield Township

Opening and closing (Monday through Friday)

1 Grave Infant to 6 years of age $200.00

Non-Residents of Weathersfield Township

Overtime Charges for all Burials

Entering cemetery Saturday before 1:30 pm  $200.
Entering cemetery Saturday after 1:30 pm  $400
Entering cemetery M-F after 2:30 pm  $200

 

Opening & Closing Charges will be charged 2X the Saturday rate for the following holidays & holiday weekends:  (if a holiday falls on a Saturday, the holiday rate will be charged, not Saturday + holiday.

Non-Residents using graves of a Township Resident will pay a surcharge of $250.00 for the use of the grave. (This is equal to the cost of a non-resident grave).

(All non-residents who purchased graves after January 1, 1982, will pay the surcharge for the grave if they did not purchase the grave as a non-resident.)

CEMETERY RULES & REGULATIONS

 

1.  Flowers may be planted up to twelve (12) inches in front of any marker or monument only.  No flowers are permitted on the backside of any maker or monument.
 
2.  Trees, shrubs, or ornamental plants are not permitted.
 
3.  Fences, shepherd's hooks, potted plants, and balloons are not permitted.
 
4.  Artifical flowers are not permitted, unless they are placed in a vase which is secured to the base of the monument.
 
5.  Small items, including statues, cannot be placed anywhere on the grave site, including flower beds, unless they are secured to the base of the monument.
 
6.  Decorative stones, gravel, and lucky stones are not permitted on the gravesite.
 
7.  All holiday decorations will be removed 10 days after the holiday.  Holiday's include:  Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Christmas.  American Flags are permitted to be up from Memorial Day until July 14.
 
8.  Cemetery clean up will begin April 1 and October 15 of each year.
 

 

GRAVE INFORMATION

1.  Use of concrete or a steel burial vault is required.  Wooden or plastic combination burial vaults are not permitted.
 
2.  Cremains must be interred in a retrievable, not biodegradable container.
 
3.  Opening and closing charges must be paid 24 hours prior to burial , unless credit has been established with the Weathersfield Township Board of Trustees.
 
4.  Only the following burial combinations will be permitted in each grave.
               a.  One full body interment
               b.  One full body interment + one cremains
               c.  One full body interment + one infant up to 1 year of age
               d.  Two cremains
               e.  One infant up to 1 year of age + one cremains
 

 
 MONUMENT RULES & REGULATIONS
 
1.  All monuments will be set at the head of the grave.  Each monument will be read standing at the foot of the grave, looking toward the head.  Only the family surname or bronze Veteran's marker is permitted on the back of the monument.
 
2.  Any marker at the foot of the grave has to be at grass level.
 
3.  Monuments must consist of no more than two (2) pieces.  Each piece can not weigh more than 1000 pounds.
 
4.  Foundations for all monuments will be installed by the monument company.
 

 
The Weathersfield Township Board of Trustees shall not be responsible for missing or damaged vases, flowers, wreaths, etc.
 
Weathersfield Township reserves the right to remove any item considered to be in violation of the stated regulations without prior notification of the family,  For the general welfare of all, any infraction of the above stated regulations may result in legal action being taken by the Board of Trustees.
