The Weathersfield Police Department is staffed with ten (10) full time officers, which includes a chief, captain, two (2) lieutenants, and six (6) patrolmen. Other employees within the department include a clerk/receptionist and a staff of five (5) part time officers.

Specialized duties include firearms instructor, evidence custodian, traffic officer, crime scene photographer, and a juvenile officer.

Full time officers are hired from within the department. Reserve officer candidates must be state certified prior to applying for a position. The selection process includes an interview by a panel, a psychological evaluation, a medical/eye examination, and drug screening. Once selected, the candidate must successfully complete an in service training program before he is permitted to work alone. Part time officers are selected from the reserve roster.
